The United Progressive Party -after just over 1 Week's existance as a recognised organisation prior to the polling week- put forward Elgarve as it's candidate in the Lyonesse East Race against the Incumbent Crackenback.
What ensued was a tense and generally close race to the finish line. The UPP making extensive and effective use of advertising in accordance with the Taco economic system. The final result was 22-15 against the UPP.
Whilst the initial defeat was disappointing, it must be acknowledged that an achievement of over 40% of the vote against a senior senator is a great result. Though this wasnt translated into a seat, the consensus of the regional population was that it takes a modern party to apply to a modern region.
The UPP will be running in the next senate election in January.
