The UPP made considerable ground this January in the two senate races. Gluuland secured a 20:3 victory in an uncontested seat (Three votes cast against his appointment) to remain as incumbent until the May '06 elections, and Sinn Feins Ireland managed to secure 10 votes of 23 cast against Jesioneka (43% of the electoral ballot) despite having reached a prior accord with Jesioneka resulting in an uncontested seat, and thus without any UPP campaigning.
Two UPP candidates are expected to stand in March under the terms of the agreement reached.
